That's not to say it isn't enjoyable by itself, but it has a lot of moments that are way cooler if you've played Okami. I can't quite remember if there's any story elements you'd absolutely need to know from Okami before you play Okamiden, but maybe watch an LP of Okami before you play Okamiden? If you're into LPs at all. That said though, if you're into Zelda style dungeons with puzzle solving, it's still pretty good. I definitely had fun playing it. I never had any issues with there being few save points, but that might be because I played the game in longer sittings.

Sep 16, 2018  I recently purchased a R4 Gold Pro, and while my Pokemon games and Sonic Rush are working fine, Okamiden gives me a white screen. After googling I found it had something to do with me having to install YsMenu, but all I can find are broken links and nothing about the card I own. Jan 18, 2016  I played through Okamiden on the 3DS and it was enjoyable enough. Not nearly as good as Okami, in my opinion, but still good enough to deserve a playthrough.

As for the camera, yeah I remember having some issues at a few points, but I didn't find it particularly worse than any other 3D games I've played. It's been a long time since I played but I'll list the differences I can remember right off. One of the major gameplay points in Okamiden is that you almost always have a partner with you who has a special ability that's used for puzzles. There were a couple places in Okami where you had a partner with you but as far as I can remember that was only in three mini-dungeons while in Okamiden it's for pretty much the whole game.Another difference is a couple mechanics of the celestial brush. Potion mixing games. In Okami when you used the celestial brush the gameplay pauses and you have as much time as you want to draw what you want. In addition, the ink you used would slowly regenerate when you weren't using the brush. In Okamiden, though, you have a time limit when using the brush.

It's a very generous time limit and I don't think I ever came close to using the whole amount of time, though so I guess that's not really something to worry about. The biggest change with it though is that your ink doesn't regenerate automatically anymore, so you either have to refill it with pickups dropped by enemies or use items to refill it, which means that when you're in battle you need to be careful not to use too much ink. In general, I found myself using items much more in Okamiden. The only other thing I can think of right off is that in Okamiden there are a couple dungeons you can't go back to after you finish them which means there's items you can miss. Nothing necessary to complete the game of course, but if you were going for 100% then it could be a little frustrating, but there's a new game plus so you don't have to collect everything in one run.Aside from that I can only think of really minor things like Okamiden has a lot more loading screens due to being on weaker hardware and not being able to load as large of an area at once. I never really got annoyed by the amount of loading screens, but it's definitely noticeable, especially if you've played the first game which had much more open areas.

Pedantic was definitely the wrong word. I think I tuned into some hipster alter ego for part of my last reply. The whole game is just an empty oversimplified shell of the original game. Whereas the original had multiple underlying stories and reasons for story progression; Okamiden is just so oversimplified that there's not a lot of meaning except 'Stop Orochi'. It's simpler in all aspects too, down to the battle system (probably for the simpler controller.) It just wasn't very engaging for me at all, which is sad considering how entranced I was with Okami.
