The Plant

A plant is a living organism that generally does not move and absorbs nutrients from its surroundings. Typically it has been placed deliberately rather than naturally; it has been planted.

Plant Chicago is a non-profit organization established in 2014 by Bubbly Dynamics, LLC. Bubbly is also owner and operator of our home, The Plant, a groundbreaking food production space designed to be a net-zero, closed loop system in Chicago’s Back of the Yards.

Plants, in contrast with animals, do not move. Therefore, to plant is to put something in the ground expecting it will not move, such as to plant a flag.
